The Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner recognizes that the media is an important stakeholder in the police complaints process. Open communication between the Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner and the media is one of the cornerstones of transparency in the police complaint process and accountability to the public we serve.

It is, however, important to note that when responding to media enquiries, the Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner must always consider the integrity of Police Act investigations and the privacy interests of the involved parties.
