The Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner wishes to advise the media that dates have been set for the Public Hearing involving Constable Brian Hobbs of the Vancouver Police Department, before the adjudicator, Retired Judge Brian Neal. The Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner wishes to advise the media that dates have been set for the discipline proceeding involving former Chief Constable Elsner, before Discipline Authority Ian Pitfield. The matter is scheduled to convene on January 15, 2018, and is scheduled for four (4) days. Discipline proceedings pursuant to the Police Act are not open to the public. View Release (.pdf)

The Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner wishes to advise the media that Discipline Authority Carol Baird Ellan and Discipline Authority Ian Pitfield have granted a request from former Chief Constable Elsner to adjourn the discipline proceedings pursuant to section 123(10) of the Police Act so that he may obtain new counsel after his counsel was recently appointed to the BC Supreme Court Bench. The Discipline Authorities determined that an adjournment was justified in the circumstances. View Release (.pdf)
