OPCC Presentations
The OPCC meets with and delivers presentations to Indigenous groups, not-for-profit and other community organizations, academic and legal institutions, and police departments as part of our outreach and education efforts to raise awareness and build relationships.
In July 2025, the following presentation was provided at an information session with support agencies to learn more about our office and its mandate, examples of police complaints, how members of the community experience police misconduct as it is defined under the Police Act, and how to access or find more information about the municipal police complaint process.
From this presentation, readers can:
- Review the key characteristics and impacts of police misconduct
- Identify an example of a public trust complaint
- Learn about the different complaint channels
- Became familiar with stages of the police complaint process
- Explore restorative approaches to addressing police complaints and types of misconduct
Ongoing outreach and education remain an important part of the OPCC’s work to strengthen public confidence in policing and the OPCC’s role in providing civilian oversight to policing misconduct.
